How Barclays’ Eagle Labs Can Benefit Your Business

Maker spaces are, by definition, a space where people with similar interests can come together and work on projects, whilst exchanging advice and sharing ideas. Eagle Labs, an initiative by Barclays, is much more than a maker space: it is an innovation space, and Avenue HQ Liverpool houses one of these spaces. Learn more below about exactly what this space is, and what it can offer to improve you and your business.

What is an Eagle Labs Maker Space?

Avenue HQ and Barclays Eagle Labs work in collaboration to provide a vital resource for our members. An Eagle Lab is a space which aids workers in nurturing and growing an idea, using a range of high-tech equipment, as well as business support. This technical and personal support proves invaluable for the members of our space, as well as the 18 other locations across the UK. Our Maker Space has been specifically designed around the needs of Avenue HQ Liverpool, with our 200 seat co-working space for entrepreneurs and businesses. With a range of support services, including 3D printing, laser cutting, vinyl cutting access to expert mentoring and potential funding opportunities, the Eagle Lab can help scale up your business.

What does it offer me and my business?

Technical Support

One key feature provided by Eagle Labs is its support for rapid prototyping, available to all of our members. This prototyping takes their ideas from a scribble on a napkin, all the way to a working prototype to present to potential investors or clients.

Laser Cutter

Laser cutting is a technology that uses a laser to cut materials, this is done by directing the output of a high-power laser most commonly through optics.

3D Printing

A typical 3D printer is very much like an inkjet printer operated from a computer. It builds up a 3D model one layer at a time, from the bottom upward, by repeatedly printing over the same area in a method known as fused depositional modelling (FDM).

Vinyl Cutter

A vinyl cutter is a computer-controlled machine. The computer controls the movement of a sharp blade. This blade is used to cut out shapes and letters from sheets of thin self-adhesive plastic (vinyl).

Creative Support

The Eagle Labs Maker Space is all about sharing ideas and creating new innovative ways of working independently, as well as with others. Eagle Lab encourages creative thinking by allowing you to take a rough idea and transform that idea into a tangible, 3D prototype for you and your business to handle. Encouragement and guidance is always given by an onsite Eco-System manager and Lab Engineer, allowing you and your business to pursue its creativity. This relationship between the manager of the space and the users also encourages creative thinking, by allowing you to receive and share unique expertise.

Incubator Support for Startups

Many people have hobbies or interests that they’d like to turn into a career. Here at Avenue HQ, we want our members to take their ideas and run with them, particularly with the help and expertise that’s always on hand at the Eagle Labs. After all, that is what the maker space is there for – so that those who aren’t confident enough to pursue their goals, can connect with others that share the same interests. Businesses can then apply this unique and tailored support to their entrepreneurial goals.

Ultimately, the Eagle Labs Maker Space can help scale up your business in more ways than one. With possible funding opportunities and great services on hand, whilst being exclusively free to all Avenue HQ Liverpool members, Eagle Labs Maker Space proves to be a huge asset.
